André Austin has incredible talent sketching with dry pastels. He also has a very strong surrealistic style and some of his works can be seen at his current exhibition at Trent gallery in Waterkloof. We are very excited to have him exhibit at A Beautiful Mind NPO's event.

I have been drawing from a very young age and only discovered pastels about ten years ago, it is a medium I have just clicked with from the beginning! The subjects I enjoy most are old rusty cars and chipped, distressed enamel crockery and anything that is aged and oxidising. I combine these "props" to create my artworks.

Since schooldays I have been influenced by the master surrealists and this shows in my work. I have been a finalist for three years in a row in the annual Art Lovers 1932 art competition and my solo is currently on show at their gallery. I have also done a pastel demo for the SA Artist magazine... it can be seen in issue 13.
