Franci Roodt studied BA Fine Arts in the 1990s at the University of Pretoria. Works purchased by ABSA and Armscor back in the day of our final class exhibition.

My landscapes are based on photographs I take during our family holidays. I am fascinated by structures, lines and colours in nature and mostly rearrange these to suit my canvas. Often one colour or shape in a whole catches my eye and becomes the starting point of a painting. From there I try to convey the "sense of place" or "sense of moment" as I experience it.

Reproducing what I see is not the objective and I seldom have a specific idea of the end-result in mind. Often one colour or shape in a whole catches my eye and becomes the starting point of a painting from where I try to convey the "sense of place" as I experience it.

A major part of my art is just the wonderful enjoyment of playing with the paint. My preferred medium is oil on canvas.
